A new adventure for everyone......

Wye Float 2018 River and Music Festival

Wye Float involves participants to float down a set and controlled route of the River Wye in Hereford. Participants can choose to float in a craft of their choice, this could include one of the following; swimming pools, flamingos, swans, kayaks, or self-built rafts.

The idea originated from a festival in Helsinki (Finland) called the Kaljakellunta. This event has been an annual gathering since 1997 and attracts lots of locals and people from all over the world. The difference between Wye Float and Kaljakellunta is that our event has a strict no alcohol policy and not only will it be supporting three charity organisations, but we will also put something back in to the community by offering volunteering roles and river clean ups before and after our events.

As soon as the last float leaves Hereford Rowing Club and participants start returning to our events area our after party will begin. This will include live music, entertainment, and various games to keep everyone entertained, whilst enjoying the food and drink provided by our vendors. The after party is included within all ticket purchases.

This year we will be supporting the following charitable organisations:

  • Hereford Youth Canoe Club-  A Voluntary youth canoe club, providing positive paddle sport opportunities for the young people of Herefordshire.
  • West Mercia Search and Rescue- Commonly abbreviated WMSAR, is a voluntary search and rescue organisation, working alongside West Mercia Constabulary, Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service and West Midlands Ambulance Service. The organisation responds to calls from any of the emergency services when required day or night. Actioning is normally through pager response from the emergency services
  • Hope Support Services- They are a registered UK charity set up in 2009. They support young people when a close family member is diagnosed with a life-threatening illness, such as cancer. They are led by two Y-Teams, truly youth-led service.
